How The Too Early Co. collects, uses and protects personal information for applicants, and how businesses agree fee terms before hiring.
What we collect
Application information
When you apply we collect your name, email, university, degree, CV and supporting documents, plus skills, interests and motivations. We also keep notes, assessments and correspondence from the review process. We do not ask for special-category data such as ethnicity, health or religion.
Why we use it
Review, contact and matching
We use your data to review applications, keep you updated, run interviews where needed, and match you with a suitable business. Our usual legal basis is legitimate interests in running the placement service. We only keep you in a talent pool if you give consent.
Sharing
Who sees your data
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. If you are shortlisted, we share your application with the business you are being matched to, and we tell you before we do. We do not currently send personal data outside the United Kingdom.
Retention
How long we keep it
If you are unsuccessful, we delete your application within six months of the outcome, unless you join our talent pool (held for up to 12 months, with a check-in). If you are placed, we keep your data for the internship and usually for about 12 months afterwards, in case of follow-up or references.
Security & rights
Security and your rights
Only people who need your data for recruitment can access it. Systems are password-protected, and documents are not shared over unsecured channels. Under UK GDPR you can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, or to object or withdraw consent, and you can complain to the ICO. Applications are reviewed by people, not by automated decisions.
Businesses
Placement fee agreement
Before a business hires a TEC applicant, they must sign a contract agreeing to the placement fee. That way both sides know the commercial terms before the placement goes ahead.
